First Holy Communion
receiving the living christ
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and wine, gave thanks, and said, “This is my Body… This is my Blood… Do this in memory of me.” In every Mass, bread and wine become the true Body and Blood of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Receiving Holy Communion unites us with Jesus and with one another as members of His Body, the Church.
First Holy Communion is a joyful milestone, usually celebrated in second grade after preparation and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is the first time a child receives the Eucharist. We invite families to prepare with faith and reverence so that this first encounter deepens their lifelong love for the Eucharist.
